StudentOS

Terms of Use

Last updated October 8, 2026 · Version 2026-10-08.14

Draft — requires review by a qualified lawyer before publication. The same text is in the app (You > Terms of Use).

These Terms of Use explain the rules for using StudentOS. Please read them. By using StudentOS you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Who we are

StudentOS is provided by Binary Data Technology ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms are an agreement between you and Binary Data Technology.

You can contact us at binarydatatechnology151@gmail.com.

2. Who can use StudentOS

You must be at least 13 years old to use StudentOS. StudentOS is not intended for children under 13. When you set up the app we ask you to choose an age range (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 or older) and keep only that range. We never ask for your birth date.

AI features are available only to users 18 and older for now. Everything else in StudentOS works for every user aged 13 or older.

If you are under 18, or under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use StudentOS only with the agreement of a parent or legal guardian where the law requires it. Your parent or guardian is responsible for your use of the app in that case.

3. Your account

StudentOS works without a sign-up. When our cloud service is available, the app creates an anonymous account for your device after you finish setup, so it can apply AI limits and check your subscription. Your study data is not backed up to the cloud unless you turn on cloud backup or sign in with Google, which turns it on so you can use StudentOS on other devices and on the web. You can turn cloud backup off at any time in the Privacy dashboard.

You are responsible for keeping your devices and your Google account secure and for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.

If you never link a Google account, your data is tied to that device. If you lose the device, uninstall the app or clear its data, you may not be able to recover it.

4. StudentOS Plus subscriptions

StudentOS Plus is an optional paid subscription sold through Google Play. Google Play processes the payment and charges your Google Play account. The current prices, billing period and any trial are shown in Google Play before you confirm the purchase.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Google Play (Google Play app > Profile > Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions). Canceling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for. Uninstalling the app or deleting your StudentOS data does not cancel a subscription.

If a free trial is offered, it turns into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before the trial ends. The app shows the date of the first charge before you start. Trial eligibility is decided by Google Play.

If you subscribe through Google Play and allow notifications, the app reminds you 3 days before a yearly renewal, including the end of a free trial on a yearly plan. Monthly plans, and free trials on a monthly plan, do not get this reminder for now, so note the first-charge date shown before you start. You can turn this reminder off. Google Play may also send its own reminders.

Fair use: Plus includes AI features "unlimited within fair use". To protect the service from abuse, Plus has high fair-use limits on AI features (for example 200 tutor questions a day and 30 syllabus scans a month). Current limits are shown in the app. Normal student use stays well below them.

If you are under 18, AI features are not available to you for now, so Plus gives you no AI benefits until they are. Plus still removes ads and unlocks the other Plus planning tools.

Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policies. We will help where we can, but Google Play decides on refund requests for purchases made through it. This does not affect any refund rights you have under the law where you live.

Unlock codes: we sometimes give out free unlock codes. A code turns on Plus for the period it states (from 1 month to 4 years) or with no end date, on the StudentOS account that redeems it in Settings > Redeem a code. Each code works only once: after one account redeems it, it cannot be used again by anyone. Codes are free, have no cash value, cannot be sold or exchanged for money, and are not refunded or replaced if lost, shared or used by someone else. Time from several codes adds up. A code does not pause, cancel or refund a Google Play subscription. We may cancel codes that have not been redeemed yet, for example if they were published or leaked; a canceled code no longer works. We may refuse or end Plus from a code that was sold, published or leaked, obtained by guessing or abuse, or used to break these terms. If we end Plus from such a code, time from your other codes is kept. Plus from a code is subject to the same fair-use limits and age rules as paid Plus, and ends if you delete your account. Codes cannot be redeemed in the iPhone app.

If we change the price of a subscription, you will be told in advance as Google Play requires, and you can cancel before the new price applies. We may change which features are included in Plus; if a change materially reduces what you paid for, we will tell you in the app.

5. The free plan, ads and limits

The core planner is free. The free plan is supported by ads served by Google AdMob and includes usage limits on AI features that reset daily or monthly. You may choose to watch an optional rewarded ad to unlock a few extra AI uses; this is never required.

Ads are always non-personalized: we ask Google AdMob not to use your information to personalize ads. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent using Google's consent form, and you can change your choices at any time from the app's Privacy dashboard. We do not use your grades, well-being check-ins or course content to choose ads, and we do not send that data to ad networks. Users we know to be under 18 see only ads suitable for general audiences.

We keep a published list of features that stay free, in the app under "What’s always free" (for example your class schedule, repeating tasks, reminders, Quiz me, flashcard review, the focus timer and exporting or deleting your data). We will not move those features behind Plus.

Ads on the free plan follow the rules listed there: no ads during Focus, quizzes, flashcard review, practice exams or on exam day; none on Breathe, Recharge, check-ins, Recovery, Get help or crisis screens; none while you are in class (going by your class schedule and School hours) or in your first session with the app. Ads start with the sound off, sit in their own space and never cover buttons, and bonus videos play only when you ask for one. Plus has no ads.

We may change free-plan limits on features that are not on the "What’s always free" list, such as the number of free AI uses. We will show current limits in the app.

6. Acceptable use

Please use StudentOS lawfully and respectfully. You agree not to: break any law; harass, threaten or harm others; upload content you do not have the right to share; upload malware or try to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to our systems; scrape, copy or resell the service; reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it; get around usage limits, ads or payments; or use AI features to create content that is illegal, hateful, sexual content involving minors, or intended to deceive or harm.

Only add calendar links you are allowed to use. Do not use calendar import to reach systems you are not authorized to access.

7. Academic integrity

You are responsible for following your school's and each course's rules on academic integrity, collaboration and the use of AI tools. The StudentOS tutor is designed to help you learn by explaining, giving hints and giving feedback, not to complete graded work for you.

The tutor escalates help step by step (a hint, then a worked example of a similar problem, then a practice problem to try) and does not offer a way to get a finished answer to your own problem or to graded work.

StudentOS can limit the tutor for a course based on the AI policy you or the syllabus scanner record. This is a helper, not a guarantee. If you are unsure what is allowed, ask your instructor.

8. AI features

Some features use artificial intelligence to generate text, such as tutor replies, task breakdowns, flashcards, email drafts and dates read from a syllabus. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Always check important information, such as due dates, exam dates and grade weights, against your official course materials or your instructor.

Only upload materials you have the right to use, such as your own notes or course materials your instructor allows you to use. Do not upload exams or other graded work you are not allowed to share. Flashcards made with AI from your materials and problem text read from a photo are drafts and can contain mistakes: check each card before you save it, and check cards and transcriptions against your course materials before you rely on them.

Priorities, schedules and suggestions in StudentOS are estimates to help you plan. They are not guarantees of any academic result. Workload estimates such as "breathing room" are based on the times you enter and are guidance only.

AI features are available only to users 18 and older for now, while we confirm that our AI provider's terms allow use by younger students.

You can report any AI output that is offensive, harmful, wrong or misleading with the "Report" button next to it, without leaving the app. We review reports and use them to improve StudentOS. You can also hide a reported reply on your device.

9. Not professional advice

StudentOS does not provide medical, mental health, legal, financial, immigration or official academic advising. For decisions in those areas, talk to a qualified professional or the right office at your school.

StudentOS is not an emergency, medical or crisis service. It cannot contact anyone for you, and nobody monitors what you enter.

Get help lists phone numbers, websites and offices run by other organizations, such as crisis lines, student-aid services and campus offices. We check the directory and show when each entry was checked, but numbers, hours and services can change without notice, and we are not responsible for those organizations or what they provide. If a number does not work, or anyone is in danger, call your local emergency number.

Office hours are read from the text you entered and may be misread; check your syllabus or course page. Directions are provided by third-party maps services. Campus safety numbers are the ones you entered; StudentOS does not check them and is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Money and fees reminders, templates, the monthly budget and "safe to spend" figures only help you keep track of dates and amounts you enter. They are not financial, tax or legal advice, and StudentOS is not responsible for missed or late payments, late fees, holds or lost aid. Always check amounts and deadlines with your school or the organization you pay, and talk to your financial aid office or a qualified adviser about loans, aid or debt.

StudentOS does not process payments for schools, landlords or anyone else, never asks for your card or bank details, and never moves money. Payment portal links you save open websites run by your school or other organizations; we do not control those websites, and their own terms apply.

Attendance figures are worked out only from the marks you enter and the class times you saved. They are estimates, not your school’s official record, and StudentOS is not responsible for attendance shortfalls, exam bars or penalties. Check your attendance with your school.

GPA, average, degree class and CGPA percentage figures in StudentOS are estimates based on what you enter and the grades you track. Schools and universities calculate them in different ways (rounding, weighting, repeated or pass/fail courses, borderline rules), so they are not official and must not be relied on for admissions, scholarships, eligibility or other decisions. Your school’s records are the only official source.

Applications & tests helps you keep track of dates, steps and scores you enter. It is not admissions, testing or financial advice, it does not predict your chances of admission or your test scores, and it does not write essays or applications. Templates contain no real deadlines; always confirm dates, requirements and fees with the school, the test organization or the scholarship provider. StudentOS is not responsible for missed deadlines or registrations. Links to free prep open websites run by other organizations; we do not control them and their own terms apply.

Movement goals, walk suggestions, break ideas and breathing exercises are general well-being suggestions, not medical advice or a fitness program. Check with a doctor before starting new exercise if you have a health condition, stop if anything hurts or feels wrong, and stay aware of traffic and your surroundings when you walk with audio.

The weekly check-in is a private self-reflection tool. It is not a medical or mental health service, nobody monitors your answers, and it cannot respond to emergencies. If you are in crisis or in danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Elsewhere, contact your local emergency number or a local crisis line, for example one listed at findahelpline.com.

10. Your content

You own the content you add to StudentOS, such as courses, tasks, notes, grades, flashcards and files. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, store, copy, process and transmit your content only as needed to operate, secure and support StudentOS for you, including sending it to our service providers described in the Privacy Policy.

This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain in backups for a limited time, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not sell it.

Study groups and recordings: you are responsible for the people and contact details you add and for the invites you send. Before you record anyone, ask everyone present, in the room or on the call, and record only if they all agree. Recording people without their consent can be against the law where you or they are, and your school may have its own rules about recording classes or study sessions. Text from speaking to type can contain mistakes, so check it before you rely on it.

Only import or export flashcards you have the right to use. Sets made by other people on Quizlet, Anki or elsewhere may be protected by copyright or by those services’ terms. Quizlet and Anki are names of services run by others; StudentOS is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

11. Our intellectual property

StudentOS, including its software, design, text and logos, belongs to Binary Data Technology or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own studies, subject to these Terms.

Garden items and other rewards in StudentOS have no monetary value and cannot be bought, sold or transferred.

12. Third-party services

StudentOS relies on services from other companies, including Google Play (payments), Google Firebase and Google Cloud (accounts, storage and AI processing with Vertex AI), Google AdMob (ads on the free plan) and, as backup AI providers, DeepSeek, Alibaba Cloud (Qwen), OpenAI and Anthropic. Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms.

When you share something from StudentOS, your device's share sheet sends it with the app you choose (for example a messaging or email app). Those apps are not part of StudentOS, and their own terms apply.

13. Ending your use

You can stop using StudentOS at any time and delete your data and account from the app (You > Your data). A Google Play subscription must be canceled separately in Google Play.

We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we must do so by law, or if continuing would create a security risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

14. Changes

We may update StudentOS and these Terms. If we make a material change to these Terms, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using StudentOS after the change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account.

15. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, StudentOS is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it reliable, but we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that reminders and sync will always arrive on time. Keep your own record of important deadlines.

School hours mode is a convenience, not a guarantee. Follow your school’s phone rules; an alert you snooze or test, or one your device delivers on its own schedule, may still arrive during class.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract under the law where you live.

16. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Binary Data Technology is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost grades, lost opportunities or lost data, arising from your use of StudentOS. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to StudentOS is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for StudentOS in the 12 months before the claim or 50 US dollars.

Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may be able to bring claims in your local courts.
